Here is a list of measurements and equivalents that should allow you to get the right quantities in your recipes:
-> 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoons
-> 4 tablespoons = ¼ cup
-> 5 tablespoons = 1/3 cup
-> 8 tablespoons = ½ cup
-> 10 tablespoons = 2/3 cup
-> 12 tablespoons = ¾ cup
-> 16 tablespoons = 1 cup
-> 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces or ½ US pint
-> 2 cups = 1 US pint
-> 4 cups = 1 quart
-> 4 quarts = 1 gallon
-> 2 tablespoons butter = 1 ounce
-> 1 stick or ¼ pound butter = ½ cup
-> 1 square chocolate = 1 ounce
-> 28 saltine crackers = 1 cup fine crumbs
-> 14 square crackers = 1 cup fine crumbs
-> 22 vanilla wafers = 1 cup fine crumbs
-> 1 ½ slices bread = 1 cup soft crumbs
-> 1 slice bread = ¼ cup fine dry crumbs
-> 4 ounces macaroni(1 ¼ cups) = 2 ¼ cups
-> 4 ounces noodles(1 ½-2 cups) = 2 cups
-> 7 ounces spaghetti = 4 cups cooked
-> 1 cup packaged precooked rice = 2 cups
-> 1 cup uncooked rice = 4 cups cooked
-> Juice of 1 lemon = 3 tablespoons
-> Grated peel of 1 lemon = 1 teaspoon
-> Juice of 1 orange = about -> cup
-> 1 orange peeled = about 2 teaspoons
-> 1 medium apple, chopped = about 1 cup
-> 1 medium onion, chopped = about ½ cup
-> 1 cup whipping cream = 2 cups whipped
-> 1 pound American cheese, shredded = 4 cups
-> ¼ pound blue cheese, crumbled = 1 cup
-> 12 to 14 eggs yolks = 1 cup
-> 8 to 10 egg whites = 1 cup
-> 1 pound walnuts in shell=1 ½ -1 ¾ cups
-> 1 pound almonds in shell = ¾ to 1 cup
-> 1 pound brown sugar = 3 ½ cups
-> 1 pound granulated sugar = 2 ¼ cups
-> 1 pound powdered sugar = 3 ¾ cups
-> 1 pound flour = 3 ¾ cups
-> 1 pound graham or wheat flour = 3 ½ cups
-> 1 pound corn meal = 3 ¼ cups
-> No. 1 can = 1 ½ cups
-> No. 2 can = 2 ½ cups
-> No. 2 ½ can = 3 ½ cups
-> No. 3 can = 4 cup
-> No. 10 can = 13 cups
